Born in the North, but raised in the South, Carlin has always had a passion for new homes, new places and new faces. By the age of 11, she’d already lived in New Jersey, Texas and North Carolina. She spent her formative years attending Providence Day School here in Charlotte, and it will always be the favorite out of her alma maters!
In high school, she represented North Carolina at Nationals in the martial art of fencing. Her success drove her to attend Drew University, where she could pursue her sport and her passion for music and vocal performance. While at University she was a Varsity athlete, performed in 6 different music groups, and took grad school courses for fun at the attached Theological Seminary while doing her undergraduate work.
Carlin has explored several career paths since college, but her most exciting career by far was in the hotel department with Royal Caribbean cruises.
For nearly 3 years, Carlin lived and worked on cruise ships, traveling to 30 countries on 5 continents. Despite working every day for months at a time, the travel and the occasional scuba diving during a lunch break more than made up for the rigorous schedule. Although her day job was in Hotel Management, she did regularly perform for the guests and the crew with her band “2nd Star.”
Years of visiting stunning and famous cities all over the globe really drove home that Charlotte had everything she was looking for, and Carlin finally returned from international waters. Working on ships taught her that there are no limitations but those we impose on ourselves. Her interests reflect this belief - from board games and nerdy novels to scuba diving and skydiving, she enjoys broadening her horizons both metaphorically and literally.
Carlin specializes in helping people who are chasing a dream to create something tangible, which has been the one common thread in every career she’s explored. She has extensive experience providing unparalleled customer service to people of all cultures, having worked with an international crew and guest manifest of several thousand on each of her four ships.
Most importantly, her ties to Charlotte run deep, and she feels passionately that it offers something no other city can. Charlotte embraces both native Charlotteans and newcomers alike with its unique blend of “Small Town, Big City” energy, and Carlin is thrilled to be in the business of finding people their perfect match here in the Queen City.
